Court revises sentence reduces 8 years for man convicted of defiling girlfriend

At 15 years old, MC, a Form One student in Nandi County, had 'consensual' sex with her 20-year-old boyfriend, Delmas Kipruto Bett. In Kenya, it is contrary to the law for an adult to engage in sexual intercourse with a minor- anyone below 18 years with their consent. In the matter, MC and Bett met on August 17, 2020, at around 4 pm and hung out until 8 pm before going to the latter's house. He was however dissatisfied and moved to the High Court at Kapsabet, arguing that on the date of the offence, MC presented herself and behaved like an adult. The government spent a total of Sh147 million to facilitate team Kenya’s participation in the world athletics championship in Budapest, Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has said. Robbery gone wrong as suspect dies trying to steal Wi-Fi routers in Nairobi

A suspect fell off and died as he tried to escape from an irate mob after a failed robbery in Embakasi, Nairobi. Police and witnesses said the suspect had climbed to the rooftop of a four-storey residential apartment and tried to steal Wi-Fi routers in Mradi area. Some tenants at the building said they heard a commotion on the rooftop and raised alarm. Apparently, the man had disabled three of the gadgets when he suddenly tried to escape by jumping off while fearing for his life. Police and witnesses said he missed a step and fell off landing on the ground head-first. "He died on the spot after suffering serious injuries," police said. The national passport delivery will continue into the third week, with 11,278 passports ready for collection from Monday, October 9, to Friday, October 13, according to the Interior Ministry. The total number of passports available in Nairobi next week is 5616, 1505 in Mombasa, and 1400 in Kisumu. The Interior Ministry announced earlier this week that a total of 15,400 passports were ready for collection, as the Ministry worked its way through a backlog of over 87,000 passports. Kenya Hit By Record 860 Million Cyber-Attacks In 2023

Kenya has recorded 860 million cyber-attacks this year, the highest yet, according to the Communications Authority (CA). CA says Kenya has witnessed an upsurge in “the frequency, sophistication and scale” of cyber-threats targeted at the country’s critical information infrastructure (CIIs) in 2023. “In the last 12 months alone, the attacks have skyrocketed to a new high of 860 million cyber-attacks. Of these attacks, 79% were a result of cyber criminals exploiting flaws and vulnerabilities in organizations' internal controls, system procedures and information systems, which they used to gain unauthorized access to the computer systems,” the authority says in a new statement.
