Jacque Maribe acquitted in Monica murder case

Journalist Jacque Maribe has been acquitted in the Monica Kimani murder case. Maribe was acquitted by Justice Grace Nzioka of the Milimani Law Courts on Friday, over lack of evidence. She is the second accused in the case that has been ongoing for over five years. According to Justice Nzioka, the charge brought against Maribe was not properly placed. "It is my considered view that the charge brought against the second accused person was not the proper charge," she said. KMTC announces scholarships in Community Health Nursing

The government has announced scholarship opportunities for students poor students who wish to pursue a certificate course in Community Health Nursing. The scholarships are being offered by the Kenya Medical Training College in collaboration with Beyond Zero. KMTC CEO Kelly Oluoch said qualified candidates from selected Arid and Semi-Arid counties, underserved minorities and other vulnerable and marginalized groups will be given top priority. The two-year- scholarships will be offered at KMTC Kapenguria, Kabarnet, Bomet, Loitoktok, Garissa, Kilifi, Kitui and Msambweni campuses. send their applications before February 26. Persons convicted of paedophilia in Madagascar will now face surgical castration for their crimes after the country's Parliament, on February 2, passed legislation mandating the same.  The development comes just days after Kazakhstan introduced a similar law in response to local lawmakers who decried that chemical castration, a punishment imposed on child rapists, failed to deter individuals from committing such crimes.  Initially, in Madagascar, child rapists were handed forced labour sentences between five and 20 years but under the new law offenders found guilty of defiling minors under ten years will undergo surgical castration and receive life sentences in prison. Two suspects were on Tuesday arrested in Nairobi along Kangundo Road with 10kg of bhang. The bhang was said to have an estimated street value of Sh300,000. Britain's King Charles has been diagnosed with a form of cancer and will postpone public-facing duties, Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Monday. Charles, 75, who became king in September 2022 following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth, is "wholly positive" about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible, the palace said. Charles spent three nights in hospital last month where he underwent a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate. The Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA) gazetted the names of the companies highlighting their failures in a notice. Police have so far arrested four suspects linked with bearing the greatest responsibility for Thursday night’s gas explosion in Mradi, Embakasi East, which killed six people and injured nearly 300 others.
