Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has sent a strong message of support and appreciation to Simon Biles after the American gymnast withdrew from the Tokyo Olympics.
Biles was reported to have picked up an injury during the team event on Monday, July 26 and withdrew from the remainder of the event as her USA team picked up a silver medal. The 24-year old was on course for the finals of the individual, all-round event but ultimately chose to withdraw, saying she needed to “focus on her mental health”. “After the performance I did, I just didn't want to go on. I have to focus on my mental health. I just think mental health is more prevalent in sports right now,” Biles said after a rather lackluster performance on Tuesday, July 27.
