Sirisia MP John Waluke Freed On Ksh.10M Cash Bail

Sirisia Member of Parliament John Waluke has been freed on a Ksh.10 million cash bail by theCourt of Appeal pending appeal on his 67 jail time This comes after Waluke late last month appealed the jail term slapped on him by the High Court terming it as harsh and unwarranted. The legislator's sentencing came in the wake of a graft case in which he was accused of defrauding the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) Ksh.313 million. The MP was charged alongside Grace Sarapay Wakhungu, and Erad Supplies & General Contracts Limited (Erad); a company where the two are shareholders. CBK Directs Banks To Forgive Ksh.15 Billion Defaulted Digital Loans

The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has directed banks to write off at least Ksh.15 billion worth of digital loans which currently stand in default status as part of a credit repair framework. The banking sector regulator has asked lenders including microfinance banks and mortgage finance companies to provide a discount of at least 50 per cent of the non-performing mobile-phone digital loans outstanding as of the end of October 2022. Twitter said it will start laying off employees on Friday, as the new billionaire owner Elon Musk moves quickly after his big takeover to make the messaging platform financially sound. A company-wide email seen by AFP says Twitter employees will receive word via email at the start of business Friday, California time, as to what their fate is. A 60-year-old man was left nursing serious injuries to his face following an attack by a marauding hyena in Raya village, Garissa county. Mzee Abdi Afi Mohamud suffered deep bite wounds around his face area and limbs following what residents termed as an unprovoked attack by the hyena. The Nairobi City County will dispose 236 unclaimed dead bodies that are laying in morgues within the city.  In a notice, the County said 218 unclaimed bodies are lying at the Nairobi City Mortuary and 18 others are at the Mama Lucy Hospital Mortuary.  Members of the public have been urged to identify and collect the bodies, failure to which they will be disposed after 7 days of the notice.  “Pursuant to the Public Health Act Cap 242 [Subsidiary; PUBLIC HEALTH (PUBLIC MORTUARIES) RULES, 1991] (2). The tourists were reportedly seen begging on the streets of Old Town and Marikiti Market on Thursday in order to raise funds for their trip to Nairobi.
