A police officer attached to the Kerugoya Police station in Kirinyaga County was on Wednesday found hanging from the roof of his rented house in Kerugoya town. His caretaker, Ann Wanjiru, said that she had gone to check up on him because he had been missing since Monday. Wanjiru said that after efforts to try and open the door turned futile, she decided to use an object to peep through the window, where she discovered a body hanging from the roof. "I tried to open it in vain as the door was locked from inside. I was shocked after seeing the body I immediately called the authorities," Wanjiru said. Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot calls out president Ruto to stop reminding kenyans about Uhuru

Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot has called out President William Ruto for what he calls being stuck up on inheriting a poor state of the economy from former president Uhuru Kenyatta. Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, have several times been quoted saying they "inherited a dilapidated economy" from Mr Kenyatta, thus calling for more time and patience from Kenyans before a change with the Kenya Kwanza administration can be felt. But according to the outspoken lawyer and former presidential aspirant, President Ruto’s administration should borrow a leaf from Kenya’s third president, the late Mwai Kibaki, who he says was focused on transforming the country instead of complaining about the state of the country he inherited from President Daniel Moi.  “Let us st...

Masked Gunmen In Nakuru Storm Radio Station, Rob Presenters Live On Air

A radio station in Nakuru County was reportedly robbed while presenters were live on air on Thursday night. The robbery at the Mwinjoyo FM studios, which was caught on camera in a now viral video, occurred as the presenters were going about their show normally. Midway through the video, a group of gun-wielding men in dark clothing and masks are seen storming the studio and ordering the presenters to switch off the transmission and lie on the floor. At some point, one of the thugs confronts one of the presenters who is already lying down, asking them “nini unafanya wewe?” (what are you doing?) before stepping on them. They then proceed to query the presenters on whether there is somebody else in the premises, presumably at an office upstairs, and whether there are CCTV came...

Kenyans In Diaspora To Be Able To Marry At Embassies

Kenyans nationals in the diaspora will soon be able to marry at Kenyan embassies in their respective countries of residence, President William Ruto said on Wednesday. Ruto said Attorney General Justin Muturi is working on the gazettement of Kenyan embassies worldwide as legally-recognised places of marriage. “The Attorney General has given concurrence that he is going to gazette our embassies as a place you can get married,” he said in Kigali, Rwanda during a meeting with Kenyans living in the country. However, Ruto said the marriages will be within the confines of Kenyan law, meaning same-sex marriages will not be officiated regardless of whether the country of residence legally recognises gay marriages. “The law of Kenya will continue to apply; if you are a man, you can ...

Raila Calls Off Anti-Government Protests

Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Sunday evening called off the anti-government  protests which were set to enter the third day on Monday. The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition leader made the announcement in a press address at his Capitol Hill office in Nairobi. It came  just hours after President William Ruto's address in which he called on the opposition leader to do so and give way for a bipartisan parliamentary process in the recruitment of commissioners to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), which is one of the issues the opposition had raised with President Ruto's administration. Odinga said  the Azimio camp is ready for dialogue that will address the key issues they have raised. According to the opposition lea...

Raila: Uhuru Kenyatta Is Not Sponsoring Azimio Demos

Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga has dismissed “unfounded” claims that former president and Azimio council chairman Uhuru Kenyatta is funding the opposition’s anti-government protests. Following Monday’s demonstrations – the second in a series of bi-weekly protests lined up in the coming days – Odinga gave an interview to the BBC where he maintained that Kenyatta does not engage in Azimio’s “domestic issues”, despite still being a member of the movement. “There have been unfounded allegations that Honourable Uhuru Kenyatta is funding the current protests. Nothing could be further from the truth,” Odinga told the network. “Yes, Uhuru Kenyatta is a member of this movement, he is still the chairman of this movement, but he’s restrained himself and has had ...
