Man Shoots Himself Outside Emergency Wing Of Hospital In Nairobi

A 72-year-old man died instantly after shooting himself outside the emergency section of a hospital in Nairobi's South B area.  Abdalla Mohamed is said to have shot himself in the chin while in the back seat of a taxi he had hired to drive him to the hospital.  Mohamed, who is a licensed gun holder, is said to have removed his Berreta Pistol from the safe and went to see his lawyer.  After the meeting with the lawyer, he requested a taxi from one of his long-term drivers. He then ordered the driver to take him to the said hospital, where upon arrival, he pulled out the gun and shot himself as he waited in the emergency area.  It was not clear what Mohamed was ailing from and the kind of medication he was looking for.  Sources say Mohamed rarely walke...

Plane With 11 Aboard Crashes In Cameroon

A plane carrying 11 people crashed in a forest in central Cameroon on Wednesday, the Ministry of Transport said. Air traffic controllers "lost radio contact with the aircraft" which was later "located in the forest" near Nanga Eboko, around 150 kilometres (90 miles) northeast of the capital Yaounde, the ministry said in a statement. A ministry official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the plane "crashed" and rescuers were "trying to see if it's possible to save anyone". The plane was chartered by a private company, the Cameroon Oil Transportation Company (COTCO) that maintains a hydrocarbon pipeline that runs between Cameroon and neighbouring Chad, official sources told AFP. Police hunting for gunman captured on camera robbing Eastleigh resident

Police are looking for a gunman who was captured on a CCTV camera robbing a man while brandishing his gun in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area. The man was captured in a video that has gone viral after the incident that happened on Eighth Street. Police say the man was caught brandishing a pistol outside Amore restaurant last Thursday before making away with the victim’s valuables. Detectives have already received possible clues on the person and are pursuing leads on his whereabouts and motive. Nairobi deputy police boss James Mugera said they want to interrogate the suspect as part of efforts to solve the crime.

The National Police Service Commission has embarked on a countrywide mental assessment of police officers. This comes when the country is witnessing a shocking surge in cases of suicide and murders within the service. The exercise which started in Nairobi in May is meant to ascertain the mental fitness of officers to continue carrying out their police work. The human rights campaigners and youths were campaigning against youth unemployment and harsh economic times. The march is to mark the 31st Saba Saba, which is marked on July 7 every year. Ruto urges police to treat Kenyans equally.

Deputy President William Ruto urges the police service to offer their services without discrimination across the country. Speaking in Nakuru the Dp said the biggest threat that this country can face if police if the police service only responds to political interest. The Dp comments came following what was witnessed during the by-election in Matungu and Kabuchai constituencies and London ward in Nakuru. The Dp reminded the inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai and the entire police service that the police is an independent unit and should carry out its operation as stipulated by the constitution.
