Digital Taxi Drivers Strike In Nairobi And Other Major Towns

Drivers operating on Digital Taxi platforms have downed their tools over what they term as non-compliance by the transport network companies they operate under.  The drivers held peaceful demonstrations at the Nairobi Greenpark terminus in a bid to petition the Ministry of Transport and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to address their concerns.  Similar demonstrations were held in Mombasa and other major towns as the operators faulted the transport network companies for offering discounts to customers, asking them to lower commission charged from current high of 25-30 % to 18%.  Justin Nyaga, the Chairperson of Organisation of Online Drivers said the Taxi hailing apps have not implemented earlier agreements on capping commission charged on dr...

Governor Sakaja Set To Name His Cabinet

Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja will unveil his long-awaited list of his County Executive Committee (CEC) members on Wednesday. Sakaja made the announcement during an interview with Radio Citizen’s Vincent Ateya on Wednesday morning, where he noted that the Nairobi County Assembly is ready to vet the nominees.  “Today I will be announcing my CEC members, I have already set up the county assembly and its leadership,” said Sakaja.
