Cops to undergo mandatory mental fitness test.

The National Police Service Commission has embarked on a countrywide mental assessment of police officers. This comes when the country is witnessing a shocking surge in cases of suicide and murders within the service. The exercise which started in Nairobi in May is meant to ascertain the mental fitness of officers to continue carrying out their police work. NPSC chairman Eliud Kinuthia on Thursday told National Assembly’s Committee on Administration and National Security that the commission has set up a medical board that is carrying out assessments on all officers. “The commission has established a special medical board to conduct the degree of mental illnesses affecting members of the National Police Service. Aviation sector showing gradual revival post-Covid — KCAA

Kenya’s aviation sector is gradually rising from the damaging blow inflicted by the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has said. KCAA Director General Capt. Gilbert Kibe has revealed that the average daily Aircraft movement is currently about 550 from 1,045 before the pandemic. Current daily international aircraft movement is at 110 while domestic traffic is 440. With the setting in of the Coronavirus pandemic, Kenya and the global aviation sector was largely affected, with passenger traffic in July 2020 recording a decline of 94 per cent in comparison to the same period in 2019 due to the pandemic. At least 41 dead as migrant boat sinks off Tunisia.

At least 41 people, including a child, have died after a boat carrying African migrants to Europe sank off Tunisia, the UN refugee agency and International Organization for Migration said on Friday. "According to reports from local UNHCR and IOM teams, three survivors were rescued by the Tunisian National Coast Guard" following Thursday's sinking, they said in a joint statement. The Kenyan designer,Zedekiah Lukoye has apologized over  an image of Lamu’s Riyadha Mosque. Matiang’i bodyguard kills his wife and himself.

A bodyguard attached to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi’s killed his wife,who was a traffic officer and himself in their home. Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai said preliminary investigations showed the General Service Unit (GSU) officer, Hudson Wakise, shot and killed his wife, Pauline Wakasa, before turning the gun on himself. Officers who visited the scene found the bodies in the sitting room. Mutyambai who mourned the incident said the couple may have had a domestic quarrel before the shooting incident. Wakise, who had been off duty since April 1, reported back to work on April 6 but left at 3 pm and went home outside the GSU camp in Ruaraka where the incident happened. Police have gunned down five suspected criminals in Nyali, Mombasa county. In a report police said they raided a house in Mbungoni where the five were hiding. The suspects were fatally shot as they enganged the police officers. Police recovered an AK 47 rifle,33 bullets,panga,two knives,seven mobile phones and a wallet. BBI proposal on distribution on 70 constituencies.

The IEBC has termed as unconstitutional the proposal in the BBI to allocate 70 constituencies to some 28 counties. Chairman wafula chebukati said while BBI promoters are right to create the constituencies they errared in allocating constituencies specific counties. The chairman said this before the Joint Justice and legal Affairs committees of parliament on the constitution of Kenya (Ammendment) Bill 2020. The bill has created additional 70 constituencies to push the number to 360. The constituencies are distributed among 28 of the 47 counties.
