Seven wardens arrested! Matiang’i says jailbreak due by laxity, incompetence

Seven wardens at the Kamiti Maximum Prison have been arrested following the escape of three convicts who were serving jail terms for terrorism-related crimes. Interior CS Fred Matiang'i said preliminary investigations suggested the escape was abetted by laxity and incompetence. Speaking on Monday at the Prison, Matiang'i vowed to ensure more arrests and prosecutions. He further announced that a massive manhunt involving specialized teams had been launched . The three escapees are; Musharraf Abdalla Akhulunga a.k.a Zarkarawi, Mohammed Ali Abikar and Joseph Juma Odhiambo. The DCI has put Sh60m bounty on the heads of the terror suspects. President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed internal security institutions to heighten vigilance and surveillance across the country following the unfolding security situation in the region. The Head of State gave the instructions during Friday's National Security Council meeting. Uhuru gave the directive even as police officers put Sh50m bounty on five terror suspects. The police put the bounty on missing terror convict Elgiva Bwire, Salim Rashid Mohammed, Mohammad Abubakar, Barigi Abdikadir Haila and Trevor Ndwiga. Man sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing Machakos priest

Embu Court has sentenced one Michael Mutunga to 30 years in prison after he was found guilty of killing a Catholic priest Michael Maingi in 2019. Judge Lucy Njuguna on Thursday, said there was no justification for Mutunga's action. Mutunga through his Lawyer Kirimi Gwantai had applied a mitigation factor which indicated his action was out of grief and anger after he was sodomised by the priest. Judge Lucy said Mutunga should have used the available legal means to seek justice instead of taking the matter onto his own hands. Governor Alfred Mutua’s estranged lover Lillian Nganga has won the first round of their bitter court battle over a property dispute. This is after the court dismissed Mutua’s pleas to have the case transferred to Machakos where he claimed the dispute arose. However, the court dismissed his objections ruling that the matter will be heard in Nairobi. Mutua had argued that the Nairobi court lacked territorial jurisdiction to hear and determine the case on the basis that the dispute arose within Machakos County. One feature is the user can control and manage calls while using the app on the web. The user can now turn off all desktop incoming calls and incoming call ringtones.
