Two suspects arrested with bhang worth Sh300,000 in Nairobi

Two suspects were on Tuesday arrested in Nairobi along Kangundo Road with 10kg of bhang. The bhang was said to have an estimated street value of Sh300,000. The Nairobi Anti-Narcotics Unit detectives supported by the Operations Unit on Tuesday conducted a raid at a house in the Joska Area. The Anti-Narcotic Unit supported by the DCI team said it acted on intelligence reports regarding persons involved in narcotic trafficking and raided the residence of one of the suspects within the Kamulu area along Kangundo Road. Hip hop enthusiasts in Kenya have a year to look forward to after legendary American rap maestro Kanye West, alias Ye, announced he could be coming to Kenya later this year.  Ye took to social media to reveal that he is set to perform in Nairobi, at the Nyayo National Stadium, on December 7, 2024.  In the list of some of the world venues he is set to perform, Kenya is among the three African countries he will visit. King Charles Diagnosed With Cancer

Britain's King Charles has been diagnosed with a form of cancer and will postpone public-facing duties, Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Monday. Charles, 75, who became king in September 2022 following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth, is "wholly positive" about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible, the palace said. Charles spent three nights in hospital last month where he underwent a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate. The palace said a separate issue of concern had been spotted during the hospital visit, but did not given any further details on the nature of the cancer. University of Nairobi students and staff getting meals from the university kitchens will now be required to make payments through the e-Citizen platform.  This is according to a directive from the Kenya Kwanza government to the university, that all payments to the institution be made through the government online portal.  Subsequently, the university issued a memo a week ago to all students and staff, giving instructions and processes on how to make the payments. Nine major security companies have had their operating licenses cancelled over allegations of violating various regulations. The Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA) gazetted the names of the companies highlighting their failures in a notice. This is likely to affect their operations at large given they have employed thousands of people and are in business. Police have so far arrested four suspects linked with bearing the greatest responsibility for Thursday night’s gas explosion in Mradi, Embakasi East, which killed six people and injured nearly 300 others. The High Court will today, November 28, deliver a judgement on petitions challenging Kenya’s Finance Act 2023.  A bench consisting of Justices David Majanja, Christine Meoli and Lawrence Mugambi is set to give a verdict on the petitions. Various petitions were filed challenging the Act that came into force on July 1 before Justice Mugure Thande issued conservatory orders suspending its implementation. Eleven people have died and 51 have been sent to hospital after a fire tore through a building in northern China's Shanxi province on Thursday, state media said. The fire started at a four-floor building belonging to the Yongju coal company in Lishi District, Luliang City, Shanxi Province at around 6:50 am (2250 GMT on Wednesday), state media said, citing local authorities.
