Five people were on Monday morning killed after a speeding PSV Matatu hit a stationary lorry at Nyabioto in Manga Sub-County, Nyamira County. According to Nyamira County Commissioner Michael Lesmam, the driver of the Kisii-Nakuru bound matatu lost control of the car and hit the lorry. Three other passengers who were critically injured were rushed to Nyamira referral hospital. The bodies of the deceased were taken to the facility morgue. About 60 people have died after an explosion at a makeshift gold mine in a village in south-west Burkina Faso, local officials say. The blast happened in a market at the gold-mining site when dynamite stored there caught fire, witnesses said. "There were bodies strewn everywhere.
