President Ruto Expected At Safaricom Ethiopia Launch

President William Ruto is expected to attend the National Launch of Safaricom Ethiopia Friendship Square in Addis Abeba. The Head of State has been invited to the event as a guest of honor, along with his counterpart, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed. Safaricom PLC CEO Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom Ethiopia CEO Anwar Soussa, and Safaricom Ethiopia chairman Michael Joseph will also be present. The event is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.

IEBC Clears Irungu Kang’ata To Vie For Murang’a Governor Seat

Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata has been cleared by the IEBC to run for the Murang'a Governor seat in the upcoming August General Election. Kang'ata was cleared along with his running mate Winnie Mwangi, who had earlier been barred from vying after IEBC determined that she had failed to resign within the legal deadlines.  According to reports, Ms Mwangi did not resign by February 9 in violation of the Elections Act, which requires public officers seeking elective seats to resign six months before an election. She was a lecturer at the University of Nairobi for more than 25 years before being chosen as Kang'ata's running mate.
