At Least 6 People Injured In Stampede At Venue Of Mashujaa Day Celebrations

Approximately six people, including a minor, have been hospitalised following a stampede at Gate C of the Kericho Green Stadium, the venue of this year's Mashujaa Day Celebrations. Local media reports indicate that all the injured persons were rushed to Kericho County Referral Hospital for treatment. Despite the incident, police were able to take charge of the situation. President William Ruto has since arrived at the stadium, which has a sitting capacity of 10,000 people, to lead the Mashujaa Day celebrations.

Several Roads To Remain Closed As Kericho Hosts 60th Mashujaa Day Celebrations

Kericho County is gearing up to host the 60th Mashujaa Day celebrations, but it comes with certain traffic and logistical adjustments.  The Rift Valley Regional Commissioner (RC), Abdi Hassan, on Wednesday, October 19, issued a directive for motorists, affecting road usage and access in and around Kericho.  The changes, according to the RC, are aimed at ensuring orderly movement and enhanced security during the event. Thousands of kenyans arrive at Wang’uru Stadium in Kirinyanga County for Mashujaa Day

The stage is set for Kirinyaga county to host the 58th Mashujaa day celebrations. The event is being marked at the Wang'uru stadium in Mwea and will be led by President Uhuru Kenyatta. Already thousands are already seated at the stadium awaiting President Kenyatta and his Malawian counterpart Lazarus Chakwera who is the chief guest at this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations. In compliance with the Covid protocols, only 3,000 guests amongst them 2,000 Kenyans mostly county locals have been allowed into the stadium.
