Woman Arrested For Burning Children’s Hands In Athi River

A woman has been arrested after burning her children's hands in Athi River, Machakos County. Police said the woman burnt the hands of her children, aged 6 and 8, as punishment for eating sugar. Kinanie area chief Josphat Musinga confirmed the incident saying the woman committed the heinous act at Kilili area, using a hot knife and nylon paper. "We visited the children in school after receiving a report about the incident. We then took them to Athi River Hospital for treatment," Musinga told Citizen Digital. The suspect spent Wednesday night at Athi River Police Station pending her arraignment.

Supreme Court To Issue Final Ruling On Sonko’s Impeachment

The Supreme Court is expected to issue a ruling later on Friday on whether or not former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko was properly impeached from office. Despite being cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to contest for Mombasa County's governor seat at the August polls, the new ruling may make or break Sonko's political career since persons who have been impeached from office are automatically barred from assuming public positions. Six Killed, 8 Injured After Gas Cylinder Explodes In Matatu On Thika-Garissa Highway

Six people have died and eight others seriously injured after a matatu they were travelling in collided with a car in a road accident at Kwa Majini bridge on the Thika-Garissa highway in Machakos County. The deceased were burnt beyond recognition after a gas cylinder that was in the matatu burst into flames following the collision. Tension has gripped Kuoyo village in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County, after angry residents torched six houses in three different homes whose owners are accused of stealing cows. The suspects are accused of stealing eight cows in Kadem in the neighbouring Migori county and Kanyadoto within Ndhiwa Sub County over the weekend. Court Freezes Ksh.115M Wired From Mauritius To Kenyan Woman

The High Court has frozen some Ksh.115 million wired to another Kenyan woman identified as Isabel Nyaguthii Wanjohi by a company registered in Mauritius. The money is believed to be proceeds of crime and was found in a Standard Chartered Bank account belonging to Ms. Wanjohi, who is an employee of Platinum Credit Limited. Lady Justice Esther Maina of the ​ Anti-corruption court on Tuesday directed Standard Chartered to transfer the money to Assets Recovery Agency (ARA) for preservation, pending determination of the case. According to ARA, Ms. Wanjohi received $1million on April 13 from Platcorp Holding Limited purported to be an unsecured loan whose purpose wasn’t disclosed. A 21-year-old student is being sought by police for allegedly killing his 18-year-old schoolmate in Belgut, Kericho county. The two, who are form three students at Keben high school, are said to have been in an altercation on Wednesday morning before the matter took a shocking turn. Witnesses say the female student died on the spot. The incident paralysed learning activities at the school, with irate students storming out of the school, demanding justice for the slain student. Police officers in Kericho have launched a manhunt for the student who went into hiding shortly after.

Matatus To Stop Accesing Nairobi CBD Starting April

Matatus are set to be barred from operating in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) starting April. The Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) says that the Green Park, Desai and Park Road bus termini will start operations by the end of April. Matatus plying the Ngong, Lang'ata, and Argwings Kodhek roads will be the first to be affected, according to NMS transport and Public Works Director Engineer Michael Ochieng. Currently, the Green Park terminal is 98% complete and will accommodate between 300 and 350 vehicles at go, and up to 20,000 in a day. Court denies petition filed by Ex- CS Rotich and Directs Case To Continue

The Milimani High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition filed by the former Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Henry Rotich challenging charges levelled against him in a fraud case. In the application, the Ex-CS had denied accusations of involvement in the multi-billion Arror and Kimwarer Dam scandal that saw a loss of billions of shillings in dubious circumstances. According to a report by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the court upheld the accusations by the prosecution who is the DPP and ruled for the hearing to continue.
