KNUT Secretary General Collins Oyuu Involved In A Road Accident

Collins Oyuu, Secretary General of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), was involved in a road accident in Kisumu County on Monday morning near Kombewa on the Bondo-Kisumu route. According to Nyanza Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer RTEO Allan Mwangi, Oyuu's car overturned while avoiding a cyclist as he rushed to catch a flight at Kisumu International Airport. Mr. Mwangi added that both Oyuu and his driver managed to escape unhurt, but the cyclist was, however, injured. Further investigations are underway.

Police in Essex, England have verified that the Kenya Airways (KQ) flight redirected to London's Stansted Airport on Thursday underwent a thorough inspection and no concerning items were found on board. The KQ plane, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, was intercepted on its way to London before being diverted to Stansted for security clearance by U.K government security personnel. Stansted is the designated airport for dealing with security issues in the UK. 11,278 Passports Ready For Collection From October 9-Interior Ministry

The national passport delivery will continue into the third week, with 11,278 passports ready for collection from Monday, October 9, to Friday, October 13, according to the Interior Ministry. The total number of passports available in Nairobi next week is 5616, 1505 in Mombasa, and 1400 in Kisumu. The Interior Ministry announced earlier this week that a total of 15,400 passports were ready for collection, as the Ministry worked its way through a backlog of over 87,000 passports.
