At least 41 dead as migrant boat sinks off Tunisia.

At least 41 people, including a child, have died after a boat carrying African migrants to Europe sank off Tunisia, the UN refugee agency and International Organization for Migration said on Friday. "According to reports from local UNHCR and IOM teams, three survivors were rescued by the Tunisian National Coast Guard" following Thursday's sinking, they said in a joint statement. "The bodies of 41 people, including at least one child, have so far been retrieved," the statement said.   Earlier, Ali Ayari, spokesman for the Tunisian coast guard in the eastern city of Sfax, had put the death toll at 20. Kamukunji politician Ibrahim Ahmed ‘Johnny’ dies.

Former Kamukunji MP aspirant Ibrahim Ahmed Yusuf, popularly known as Johnny, is dead.  Ahmed died in Nairobi on Friday morning.  Johnny, as he was fondly referred to, died on Friday morning after a short illness, according to his family. He passed on at the Coptic Hospital where he was rushed for emergency treatment. There was no immediate confirmation on the cause, but his family and friends said he had a kidney condition. Jamia Mosque officials said Ahmed will be buried at 12pm on Friday at the Langata Cemetery.

Magoha announced this on Monday in Kisumu saying they are on the right track with only the marking of Kiswahili Insha and English Composition currently ongoing. The CS said the invigilator in Kitui who sent away a pupil during the composition examination will be dealt with and will face the law. What began as a Good Friday celebration for revellers in Kisumu City ended in police cells. The revellers were arrested while imbibing their favourite drinks and partying past curfew hours as directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta in a move aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19. Most clubs in major towns across the Nyanza region such as Bondo, Siaya, Homabay, Oyugis, Kisii and Migori are known to operate past the recommended closing hours with patrons enjoying their drinks behind closed doors.
