The Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji has urged form four leavers in Garissa to take up the teaching profession in order to bridge the huge gap of teacher shortage in the county. Haji said as long as the local community shies away from the profession, the region will continue to lag behind in education due to teacher shortage. A 60-year-old man was left nursing serious injuries to his face following an attack by a marauding hyena in Raya village, Garissa county. Mzee Abdi Afi Mohamud suffered deep bite wounds around his face area and limbs following what residents termed as an unprovoked attack by the hyena. The old man is said to have been out grazing his herd of goats when the hyena suddenly emerged from the bushes and attacked his flock. “The old man tried to scare away the hyena after it attacked his goat, only for the wild animal to turn on him ferociously,” a source told Wananchi Reporting. Six Killed, 8 Injured After Gas Cylinder Explodes In Matatu On Thika-Garissa Highway

Six people have died and eight others seriously injured after a matatu they were travelling in collided with a car in a road accident at Kwa Majini bridge on the Thika-Garissa highway in Machakos County. The deceased were burnt beyond recognition after a gas cylinder that was in the matatu burst into flames following the collision. Dozens killed in Malindi road crash

At least 14 people died in a road crash on the Malindi-Kilifi Highway on Wednesday morning.  The accident involved Muhsin bus from Mombasa to Garissa and a Sabaki shuttle minibus heading to Mombasa from Marereni. Kilifi county commissioner Kutswa Olaka confirmed 15 people died and another 14 were injured in the crash. Both drivers died on the spot. There are also several Kilifi county government employees who have died from the crash. Eyewitnesses said the bus heading to Garissa was overtaking and lost control hitting the shuttle killing over 20 and leaving many others in critical condition.
