President Ruto Unveils Reshuffle In Senior KDF Appointments

President William Ruto has promoted Major General Charles Muriu Kahariri to the esteemed rank of Lieutenant General, appointing him as the Vice Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). Kahariri will replace outgoing Lieutenant General Jonah Maina Mwangi who is retiring after serving 42 years in the armed forces. Major General David Kimaiyo Tarus has also been elevated to a similar rank as Kahariri and appointed Kenya Army Commander. Tarus, who previously served as the Deputy Kenya Army Commander, will succeed Lieutenant General Peter Mbogo Njiru who is leaving the force after 39 years of service. Police have so far arrested four suspects linked with bearing the greatest responsibility for Thursday night’s gas explosion in Mradi, Embakasi East, which killed six people and injured nearly 300 others. Police in Kisii are in custody of an illegal consignment of bhang valued at over Ksh.11 million after intercepting its transportation on Sunday. Ruto To Begin 3-Day Visit To South Nyanza

President William Ruto is from Thursday set to embark on a three-day visit to the South Nyanza region, his first since assuming office in August last year. The tour will see him visit Kisii, Nyamira and Migori counties. In Kisii County on Thursday, the Head of State is expected to begin with the launch of the Kegati Water Project in Nyaribari Chache Constituency at 11 a.m., from where he will head to West Mugirango to launch the Sironga Housing Project, Constituency at 1 p.m. Thereafter, Ruto will commission upgrading of the Gekano-Rigoma-Amabuko Road in Kitutu Masaba Constituency.
