DPP Nurdin Haji Calls On Garissa Youth To Take Up Teaching Profession

The Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji has urged form four leavers in Garissa to take up the teaching profession in order to bridge the huge gap of teacher shortage in the county. Haji said as long as the local community shies away from the profession, the region will continue to lag behind in education due to teacher shortage. Speaking in Garissa during the launch of Young Muslim Girls High School, the DPP urged parents to encourage their children to take up teaching as a career saying the region’s progress was suffering due to lack of adequate teachers. DPP Withdraws Ksh.19M Graft Charges Against CS Nominee Aisha Jumwa

The Director General of Public Prosecutions has issued a request to withdraw the corruption case against Aisha Jumwa who was recently appointed Public Service and Gender Cabinet Secretary. Jumwa, who was a Member of Parliament for Malindi was facing charges of illegally obtaining Ksh.19 million. Through the head of prosecution Alex Akula, the DPP's office informed Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku that it has received orders to withdraw the case against Jumwa who is the first defendant in the case. However, the case of the 8 others the CS nominee was charged with will continue. The Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji has refuted claims he ordered the arrest and questioning of High Court judges Aggrey Muchelule and Said Chitembwe. In a statement on Thursday, the DPP said he was not aware of the reason leading to their arrests and questioning, and that his office had not received any files concerning them. "Contrary to reports by one Eric Theuri, purportedly speaking for LSK blaming the DPP for the arrest, the DPP is not aware of circumstances which led to arrest or questioning of 2 Judges," Haji said. DPP seeks to move police boss murder case probe to Ipoa

The tug of war between the DCI and DPP played out in court on Thursday in Embakasi DCIO Samwel Mwongela’s murder case. This is after the DPP told the court that they were shifting the investigations from the DCI to Ipoa. The prosecution claims that Mwongela is a senior cop at DCI and his case cannot be investigated by his colleagues as they may compromise the case. Clarification on Fake Gold case from DPP.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) has issued a clarification after a local daily reported that the DPP wanted to drop charges against business man Jared Otieno in the Sh23 million fake gold case. In the statement, the ODPP insisted that the case against Jared Otieno and four other individuals is ongoing and there was no intention to withdraw the case. The ODPP called on the media to verify information before publishing to avoid any such incidences, noting that the case was set for mention on Monday 26th for hearing dates to be set, but one of the accused individuals did not appear in Court.
