IEBC Extends Presidential Running Mate Nomination Deadline To May 16

Presidential aspirants and those eyeing gubernatorial seats in the August General Election now have two more weeks to name their running mates. This is after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) extended the April 28 deadline for submitting running mate names to May 16. Court Freezes Bank Account Of Gov’t Employee Earning Ksh.32K But Transacted Ksh.79 Million

The High Court has frozen the bank account of a public officer at the Ministry of Environment who is alleged to have fraudulently acquired public funds amounting to millions of shillings. According to preliminary investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Samuel Njoroge Kariuki's currently has Ksh.22 million, an amount that does not match his salary and therefore the funds in the account are believed to have been obtained through corruption. Documents filed in court indicate that Kariuki joined the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in January 2018, as a Finance Officer II in job group K earning a salary of Ksh.32,000. The body of former President Mwai Kibaki on Monday arrived at Parliament buildings a few minutes before 7:30 am. This followed a Solemn Procession that began from Lee Funeral Home and took to  Valley Road and Kenyatta Avenue through to Parliament Road. A Military Guard of Honour was mounted along Parliament Road for the entry procession into Parliament The former Head of State will lie-in-state for the next three days. Kibaki died at the age of 90.

Education CS Magoha To Release 2021 KCSE Exam Results

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2021 examination results are set to be released by Education CS Prof. George Magoha. The results will be released at the KNEC headquarters on Dennis Pritt Road, Kilimani, Nairobi.  A total of 831,015 candidates sat the exam. The exams were done in 10,413 centres. The papers were disseminated from 483 distribution centers, with Magoha supervising the examination distribution and monitoring exercise. Students had until April 1 to submit their choice of courses to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service.

IEBC Announces 418,000 Temporary Jobs Ahead Of August Elections

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced a total of 418,192 short-term job opportunities ahead of the August 9 General Election. IEBC is looking to recruit deputy county returning officers (47), deputy constituency returning officers (290), presiding officers (52,481), deputy presiding officers (52,841), logistics officers (389) and support electoral trainers (5,827). The elections authority is also looking to enlist 580 ICT clerks, 302,860 polling clerks, 47 county based voter educators, 290 constituency based voter educators and 2,900 ward-based voter educators All interested parties should apply for the positions on IEBC’s online portal, where requirements for the slots will be available, before May 6, 2022.

2,000 Police Officers Found Mentally Unfit To Serve

Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has said 2,000 police officers are mentally unfit to serve in the police service. Speaking when he met bishops and senior clergy of the Anglican Church in Nairobi on Tuesday, Mutyambai said that the findings were established after medical examinations were conducted on police officers. “We have subjected all the officers to medical examination, and to our surprise, we got a big number. We isolated almost 2,000 police officers who are unfit to do their law enforcement work,” said Mutyambai.
