Jacque Maribe acquitted in Monica murder case

Journalist Jacque Maribe has been acquitted in the Monica Kimani murder case. Maribe was acquitted by Justice Grace Nzioka of the Milimani Law Courts on Friday, over lack of evidence. She is the second accused in the case that has been ongoing for over five years. According to Justice Nzioka, the charge brought against Maribe was not properly placed. "It is my considered view that the charge brought against the second accused person was not the proper charge," she said. Two suspects arrested with bhang worth Sh300,000 in Nairobi

Two suspects were on Tuesday arrested in Nairobi along Kangundo Road with 10kg of bhang. The bhang was said to have an estimated street value of Sh300,000. The Nairobi Anti-Narcotics Unit detectives supported by the Operations Unit on Tuesday conducted a raid at a house in the Joska Area. Court To Deliver Verdict On Finance Act Petitions Today

The High Court will today, November 28, deliver a judgement on petitions challenging Kenya’s Finance Act 2023.  A bench consisting of Justices David Majanja, Christine Meoli and Lawrence Mugambi is set to give a verdict on the petitions. Various petitions were filed challenging the Act that came into force on July 1 before Justice Mugure Thande issued conservatory orders suspending its implementation. Eleven people have died and 51 have been sent to hospital after a fire tore through a building in northern China's Shanxi province on Thursday, state media said.
