Kanye West Sued Over Claim Of Illegal Sample On ‘Donda 2’

Rapper, producer and entrepreneur Kanye West, who legally changed his name to Ye last year, was sued on Wednesday for allegedly sampling a song by musician Marshall Jefferson without permission. Ultra International Music Publishing LLC said "Flowers" from West's album "Donda 2" includes a sample from Jefferson's 1986 dance song "Move Your Body" that is repeated at least 22 times. An attorney for Ultra International, which owns the rights to Jefferson's song, said the company had no comment and believes the lawsuit speaks for itself. Jefferson is a pioneer of house music from West's hometown of Chicago...

Gas Leak May Have Killed 21 Youths In South Africa

Twenty-one young people found dead in a tavern on South Africa's east coast over the weekend may have died from poisoning from a gas leak, a source close to the investigation said on Wednesday. The deaths of the youths in a popular nightspot outside the city of East London unleashed an outpouring of grief in a poor community, while some relatives of the victims have expressed anger that weeks of calls to shut down the tavern went unheeded. All were teenagers, the youngest a 13-year-old girl. There were also several survivors, some of whom were taken to hospital, and others unharmed. A spokesperson for the forensic team declined to comment on any aspect of the investigation until the final report is out. Eastern Cape's provincial government said in a statement "autopsies ha...

Harmonize Appoints Lover Kajala As Record Label ‘Konde Gang’ CEO

Tanzanian music star Harmonize, born Rajab Abdul Kahali, is for sure on a charm offensive to keep his lover Kajala under his tuck after mending their relationship. Johny Depp Hits 2.5M Followers On Tiktok Without A Single Post

After his recent legal victory in his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, American actor Johnny Depp has opened a TikTok account. The Pirates of the Caribbean star joined the popular video-sharing platform as @johnnydepp, garnering over 2.6 million followers as of Tuesday. “Occasional Thespian” is how the 58-year-old describes himself on his bio, but he is yet to share or like any video. He does not follow anyone on the platform, either. A Virginia court last week awarded Depp Ksh.1.7 billion ($15 million) after he sued Heard for defamation over a 2018 opinion piece she published in The Washington Post newspaper. Ms. Heard, who herself has starred in films such as Aquaman, called herself a 'public figure representing domestic abuse,' without mentioning Depp’...

Mane Snatches Victory For African Champions Senegal

Liverpool star Sadio Mane scored a penalty eight minutes into added time to give Senegal a dramatic 1-0 win over heart-broken Rwanda on Tuesday in 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying. Forced to play a home match in Senegal because they do not have an international-standard stadium, Rwanda were on the verge of holding a team ranked 116 places higher in the world. But Mane rescued the Teranga Lions on 98 minutes, with a hard, low penalty that eluded the outstretched hand of goalkeeper Olivier Kwizera. Mane has starred in the first two matches for the title-holders, scoring four goals, including a matchday one hat-trick against Benin. Despite the huge rankings gap, Senegal took no chances against the Rwandan Wasps, who have qualified for the Cup of Nations only once in 13 a...
