American music icon Madonna Louise Ciccone, known as Madonna, is in Kenya and has created a beautiful mural of broken glass in Kibera, Nairobi. Posting on her Instagram account Tuesday evening, the Grammy-award winner shared photos and videos of her creating the artistic "tree of life" mural together with her children. The 65-year-old star wrote that the mural is in honour of "the great work that Kennedy Odede is doing" for Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO). Celebrated News Anchor Catherine Kasavuli Dead At 60

Veteran Kenyan media personality Catherine Kasavuli has died.  The news of her demise was confirmed by acting KBC Managing Director Samuel Maina.  Kasavuli who recently opened up about her battle with cervical cancer, succumbed to the illness in Nairobi on Thursday night. Ms Kasavuli was the first female TV news anchor in the country, and is credited with breaking the glass ceiling for female TV journalists in the country. During her illustrious career which boomed between the 1990s and 2015, Kasavuli graced Kenyan TV screens as an anchor in most of Kenya's leading television stations including Citizen TV, State broadcaster KBC and KTN. Kasavuli returned to KBC in 2020, where she hosted the Legend Edition.

Two Tanzanians Among 3 Arrested With Elephant Tusks Worth Ksh.500K In Kisumu

Three suspects, among them two Tanzanians, have been apprehended by police in Kisumu after they were found in possession of elephant tusks valued at over Ksh.500,000. In a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday, 52-year-old Wilson Korio was arrested together with Tanzanians Jakaya Mchubo Paswa (42), and Lemintiye Mbukoti (27), after they were found with eight pieces of elephant tusks weighing 16kg.  DCI says that the arrest came after detectives in Kisumu received a tip-off from an informant, and then liaised with Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) personnel to make the bust. Murder Charge Against Aisha Jumwa Formally Withdrawn

The murder charge against Public Service and Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has been formally withdrawn.  The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) made an application at Mombasa High Court to have the murder charge withdrawn, and Jumwa to be a state witness.  In a letter by the ODPP, court was told that though the threshold test was met at the point of making the decision to charge, the evidentiary test on relation to the doctrine of common intention has not been met. "Therefore the charges against the second accused can therefore not be sustained in the circumstances," court was told. Six people died, including two police officers in their twenties, when a routine missing persons investigation turned into an hours-long siege at a remote Australian property, police said Tuesday. Four officers arrived at a tree-lined property near the small town of Wieambilla late Monday afternoon.
