Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu will today, Wednesday, launch the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) portal for 2022 KCSE candidates. The launch is set to take place at the University of Nairobi's (UoN) Taifa Hall where he will also be launching the Nairobi Innovation Week at the same event. Esther Nabirye, 26, was apprehended on Monday after the video, which had already gone viral, caused an uproar from the public prompting the police to take action. A radio station in Nakuru County was reportedly robbed while presenters were live on air on Thursday night. The robbery at the Mwinjoyo FM studios, which was caught on camera in a now viral video, occurred as the presenters were going about their show normally. Operations in a majority of counties have been paralysed following the delayed disbursement of funds from the National Treasury for four consecutive months. According to Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, who appeared before the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee on Thursday, Treasury owes county governments about Ksh.96 billion arrears accrued from January this year. Facebook owner Meta published an artificial intelligence model on Wednesday that can pick out individual objects from within an image, along with a dataset of image annotations that it said was the largest ever of its kind. The company's research division said in a blog post that its Segment Anything Model, or SAM, could identify objects in images and videos even in cases where it had not encountered those items in its training. One student is said to be recovering in the intensive care unit. Jared Obiero, Western Regional Director of Education, confirmed the incident to the media on Monday. According to Obiero, the decision to suspend school learning came after consultations between the school, the Ministry of Education, and the county government.
