Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot has called out President William Ruto for what he calls being stuck up on inheriting a poor state of the economy from former president Uhuru Kenyatta. Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, have several times been quoted saying they "inherited a dilapidated economy" from Mr Kenyatta, thus calling for more time and patience from Kenyans before a change with the Kenya Kwanza administration can be felt. Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu will today, Wednesday, launch the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) portal for 2022 KCSE candidates. The launch is set to take place at the University of Nairobi's (UoN) Taifa Hall where he will also be launching the Nairobi Innovation Week at the same event. Canada Warns Of Fake Immigration Programs Targeting Kenyans

Canada has issued a warning over fake special programs being circulated online purporting to welcome Kenyan immigrants to the North American country. Canada’s Immigration Department on Tuesday said such programs do not exist and trashed such information as false. “Disinformation is circulating which suggests that special programs are welcoming Kenyan immigrants. This is false, and the immigration programs referenced do not exist,” the department said in a tweet, along with a link to the official immigration website for accurate information on how to immigrate. UoN The Only Kenyan University Named In World’s Top 2,000

The University of Nairobi has been named the only Kenyan University to make it to the top 2,000 universities globally. In the 2023 ranking edition by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) released on Monday, UoN was placed 1,425th on the list and ranked as the leading higher learning institution in Kenya. CWUR added that UoN's employability rank was recorded at 1,610 which was measured by the professional success of its alumni, including the number of top positions they have held at major companies relative to the university's size (25%). Fuel Prices Increase, Diesel And Kerosene Subsidies Removed

Kenyans will start paying higher prices for the three petroleum products effective Monday, May 15, in the latest review by the Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA). In a statement on Sunday, EPRA's Director General Daniel Bargoria said that the increase is attributable to the average cost of imported refined petroleum products which has seen the landing cost of imports varying in prices. The landing cost of Super Petrol increased by 8.63% in March 2023, Diesel decreased by 2.51% while Kerosene also dropped to 1.13%. This will see Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene increase by Kshs.3.40 per litre, Kshs.6.40 per litre and Kshs.15.19 per litre respectively, a review which will be in force upto June 14, 2023. Televangelist Ezekiel Odero Arrested Amid Probe Into Kilifi Cult

Televangelist Ezekiel Odero of New Life Prayer Centre and Church has been arrested.  His arrest comes just a day after he was questioned about alleged links to Paul Mackenzie, the leader of a starvation cult that has lead to the deaths of at least 98 people in Kenya, as well as alleged congregant indoctrination. Coast Regional Commissioner Rodha Onyanja confirmed the preacher's arrest on Thursday morning, saying he was apprehended by joint security teams in Coast. According to Onyanja, his arrest came after employees from the Milele Funeral Home in Mavueni confirmed several deaths at his church. President William Ruto has signed into law the Division of Revenue Bill, 2023, which the Senate passed last week.  Senators considered and passed the bill on April 20 without amendments in the form passed by the National Assembly. This allocated counties Ksh.385 billion in the 2023/24 financial year, which is Ksh.15 billion more than the Ksh. 370 billion that has been allocated in the current financial year (2022/2023).
