In a video shared on her J Lo Beauty Instagram page on Friday, September 17, the 52- year-old confessed that she often feels like she does not in Hollywood. "I know it is important for all of us to feel like we belong. For most people there's so many times in your life when you feel like an outsider, I feel like that in Hollywood sometime,” she said. Being Latina and a woman, people assume we can’t be successful, or we can’t own a business or be the boss. But what they don't know is that Latinas are fearless and powerful, and they can accomplish anything they set their mind to,” she said. JLo made the sentiments as a celebration of Hispanic H...

Nairobi MCAs in bid to rename Mbagathi Way after Raila Odinga

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga could be the latest public figure to have a road in Nairobi named after him should county assembly members pass a motion backing the move sponsored by Minority Whip Peter Imwatok. The motion, whose notice was tabled last week and is set to be moved this week, wants Mbagathi Way renamed Raila Odinga Road, ostensibly in recognition of the former prime minister’s contribution to the growth of the country by championing good governance, democratic ideals and development of infrastructure. Mr Imwatok (Makongeni, ODM) noted that it was under the leadership of the former Lang’ata MP’s tenure as Roads and Public Works minister in 2005 that plans to rebuild Mbagathi Way were mooted. The second-term ward rep added that Mr Odinga h...

NHIF is broke and it may not meet it’s Obligations.

The National Health Insurance Fund is broke and may not meet its obligations if the negative financial performance is not dealt with. A new report by Auditor General Nancy Gathungu shows the national health insurer has a funding gap of over Sh3.6 billion. The fund’s performance has dropped compared with the financial year 2017-18 when it earned an extra Sh295 million. “The fund’s performance is on a downward trend and if strategies are not in place to reverse the trend, the fund is likely to experience financial difficulties in future,” Gathungu warned. The deficit resulted in a reduction of the fund’s earnings from Sh23 billion it posted in the year ending June 2018 to Sh19 billion in the year ending June 30, 2019. NHIF’s performance has been a cause of concern for man...

Kenya to manufacture Covid-19 vaccines starting next year

Kenya will next year start manufacturing Covid-19 vaccines locally in collaboration with unnamed pharmaceutical firms in a move aimed at easing supply hitches that have derailed mass inoculation. Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe revealed in an internal vaccination blue print that the country has started the process of building a filling plant for the Covid-19 vaccines. A full-fledged vaccine manufacturing plant will be built by 2024, said Mr Kagwe. A fill and finish facility helps third parties put the vaccine from the main manufacturers into vials or syringes, sealing them and packaging them up for distribution. “We aim to start local production during the first quarter of 2022 and have a fully-fledged human vaccine manufacturing capability by 2024.” Mr Kagwe said lo...
