Man sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing Machakos priest

Embu Court has sentenced one Michael Mutunga to 30 years in prison after he was found guilty of killing a Catholic priest Michael Maingi in 2019. Judge Lucy Njuguna on Thursday, said there was no justification for Mutunga's action. Mutunga through his Lawyer Kirimi Gwantai had applied a mitigation factor which indicated his action was out of grief and anger after he was sodomised by the priest. Judge Lucy said Mutunga should have used the available legal means to seek justice instead of taking the matter onto his own hands. She said the conduct of the accused after committing the offence betrayed his innocence by all means after he withdrew sh400,000 from the M-pesa of the deceased, took into possession his vehicle and converted it to be his own. Lillian secures first-round win in property dispute with Governor Mutua

Governor Alfred Mutua’s estranged lover Lillian Nganga has won the first round of their bitter court battle over a property dispute. This is after the court dismissed Mutua’s pleas to have the case transferred to Machakos where he claimed the dispute arose. However, the court dismissed his objections ruling that the matter will be heard in Nairobi. Mutua had argued that the Nairobi court lacked territorial jurisdiction to hear and determine the case on the basis that the dispute arose within Machakos County. The court also dismissed the county boss argument that it lacked jurisdiction to hear the case filed by Nganga on the basis of the value of the shares and stocks in question.
