Britain's King Charles has been diagnosed with a form of cancer and will postpone public-facing duties, Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Monday. Charles, 75, who became king in September 2022 following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth, is "wholly positive" about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible, the palace said. Charles spent three nights in hospital last month where he underwent a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate. The palace said a separate issue of concern had been spotted during the hospital visit, but did not given any further details on the nature of the cancer. University of Nairobi students and staff getting meals from the university kitchens will now be required to make payments through the e-Citizen platform. This is according to a directive from the Kenya Kwanza government to the university, that all payments to the institution be made through the government online portal. New twist as State cancels licenses for 9 private security firms

Nine major security companies have had their operating licenses cancelled over allegations of violating various regulations. The Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA) gazetted the names of the companies highlighting their failures in a notice. This is likely to affect their operations at large given they have employed thousands of people and are in business. Four People Arrested In Embakasi Gas Explosion Probe

Police have so far arrested four suspects linked with bearing the greatest responsibility for Thursday night’s gas explosion in Mradi, Embakasi East, which killed six people and injured nearly 300 others. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday morning said detectives have arrested the main suspect Derrick Kimathi, the proprietor of the illegal gas-filling plant who surrendered to the police on Monday, alongside three National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) officials. “These are David Ongare (Director of Environment Compliance), Joseph Makau (Head of Environmental Impact Assessment) and Mirrian Kioko,” the DCI said in a statement. A run-off election will be held next month in Liberia following a photo finish between President George Weah and his main rival Joseph Boakai.
