Residents of Malaha village in Bungoma County are reeling in shock after one family lost two of their kins in a lightning tragedy on Sunday evening. The duo Francisca Wabomba, 21, and Valary Naliaka, 13, were struck by lightning while heading home from a posho mill. While confirming the incident, area Assistant chief Bramwel Kachelo regretted the demise of the two and asked parents not to allow their children out when it is raining. Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has clarified details on the requirements exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna needs to meet to return to the country. Gov’t To Pay A Further Ksh.14 Billion To Oil Marketers

The government is expected to pay a further Ksh.14 billion to oil marketing companies (OMCs) to cover arrears from the fuel subsidy. Already, the Ministry says it has paid Ksh.34.2 billion of the arrears owed to the fuel retailers over the course of the fuel shortage crisis in the country. "We are in receipt of the full outstanding balance that is payable to the OMCs. As of yesterday (Wednesday) we had dispatched upwards of Ksh.34.6 billion since the program started last year and will continue with these disbursements once done with the administrative procedures," stated Acting Petroleum and Mining Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma. A man was charged on Wednesday with stealing cooking oil from Naivas Supermarket. Alvin Linus Chivondo was charged with stealing 2 litres of cooking oil at the Naivas Supermarket along Moi Avenue.  According to the prosecution, the 21-year-old man also stole 5 kgs of rice , honey, tea leaves and sugar, all totaling Ksh. 3,165.  He pleaded guilty before the court.  The court heard that he posed as a customer, picking the items from the shelves before packing them into a non-woven carrier bag.  He was intercepted while attempting to exit the supermarket without paying.
