Teacher In Custody For Allegedly Sodomizing 3 Pupils In Bomet

A male teacher is being held in Bomet County after he allegedly sodomized three pupils aged between 11 and 13. The suspect was taken to Mogogosiek Police Station in Konoin and is set to be arraigned over the heinous acts at Mosoriot Academy. Konoin police boss Tom Achiya said the suspect, Bernard Kirui, was arrested after one of the victims complained of severe pain and was rushed to Litein Mission Hospital; where it was established that he had been sodomized. "His arrest follows complaints from staff members at the school. We conducted investigations, which led to the apprehension of the suspect," Achiya said. Woman Arrested For Burning Children’s Hands In Athi River

A woman has been arrested after burning her children's hands in Athi River, Machakos County. Police said the woman burnt the hands of her children, aged 6 and 8, as punishment for eating sugar. Kinanie area chief Josphat Musinga confirmed the incident saying the woman committed the heinous act at Kilili area, using a hot knife and nylon paper. "We visited the children in school after receiving a report about the incident. We then took them to Athi River Hospital for treatment," Musinga told Citizen Digital. The suspect spent Wednesday night at Athi River Police Station pending her arraignment.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni says his government will not intervene in the current economic situation amid a rising cost of living. Prices of petroleum products, imported raw materials and food have been rising in recent months, a crisis being experienced globally following the war in Ukraine. In a televised national address on Sunday night, Mr Museveni said that government subsidies or removal of import taxes would collapse the economy. There would be a haemorrhage of dollars from the national reserves for the purchase of those expensive products, he added.
