Wajackoyah Unable To Vote As KIEMS Kits Fail

Roots Party presidential candidate Prof. George Wajackoyah was not able to cast his vote at Matungu in Kakamega County after the IEBC KIEMS kit failed. Prof. Wajackoyah turned up at the Indangalasia Primary School at around a quarter past 10 am. No one in the polling station had cast their vote yet at the time. “We are waiting to see what happens, like they have said. They said they would give us another 11 hours and asked us to be patient,” he told voters outside the polling station. NCIC Names 15-Member Panel For Peace Ahead Of The Elections

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has appointed 15 members to the Kenya Eminent Panel for Peace. Ambassador Francis Muthaura will lead the panel as the convener, with Justice (Rtd) Joyce Aluoch appointed as the co-convener.  Archbishop Anthony Muheria, Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit and Archbishop Phillip Anyolo are the committee's faith leaders. In order to allow registered voters to verify their identification before the election next Tuesday, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will make the official voter register available to all polling places on Tuesday, August 2. The register must be posted at each polling location by Tuesday evening, according to IEBC Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera, who spoke to the media on Monday. The resumption of miraa exports to Somalia has earned farmers and traders Sh221 million in just four days. Head of Miraa Pyrethrum and other Industrial Crops Felix Mutwiri announced that Kenya had exported 81.4 tonnes of miraa to Mogadishu four days after the market was opened.  This represented products from 19 traders from the 22 who had applied to be cleared to access the lucrative Somalia market. We have so far exported 81.4 tonnes in the last four days and we expect the volumes to grow in the coming days as more people are cleared to ship out the commodity,” she said.
