SGR To Go Cashless From February

Kenya Railways (KR) plans to implement cashless ticketing on its Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) service beginning February 1, 2022. According to a statement issued by KR on Wednesday, passengers will no longer be able to pay for tickets at all Madaraka Express Passenger Service Stations on the aforementioned date and will be required to use cashless at all service points. Customers have been advised to use M-Pesa, debit, or credit cards to pay. Until now, the SGR operates two pairs of trains between Nairobi and Mombasa, with departures at 8 a.m., 3 p.m., and 10 p.m. First-rate coaches cost Ksh.3000 for adults and Ksh.1500 for children aged 3 to 11. The Economy coach costs Ksh.1000 per adult trip and Ksh.500 for children aged 3 to 11.

2022 KCSE Released as 1,146 Candidates Score Grade A as CS Machogu marks Improved perfomance

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has officially released the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results which he says mark an improved performance compared to the previous year. Unveiling the results at the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) headquarters in Nairobi on Friday, Machogu noted that out of the 881,416 candidates who sat the 2022 KCSE exam 173,345 scored the minimum university entry grade of C+ and above compared to 145,776 in 2021. The Education pointed out that in 2022 a total of 1,146 candidates scored grade A compared to 1,138 in 2021. A total of 522,588 candidates scored grade D+ and above in the 2022 KCSE exam. A six-month-old baby and its teen mother were among six people killed early Monday when gunmen opened fire at a home in California, police officials said.
