Trump signs order barring trans athletes from women’s sports

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday seeking to ban transgender athletes from participating in women's sports, in his latest move targeting transgender people since returning to office. "From now on women's sports will be only for women," Trump said before he signed the order at the White House, surrounded by dozens of children and female athletes. "With this executive order the war on women's sports is over." Former President Uhuru demands peace talks on The Eastern DRC crisis

Former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has called for peace talks between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) . Through his Spokesperson Kanze Dena, Kenyatta, as the facilitator of the EAC-led Nairobi Process, noted there is an urgent need for renewed peace talks between the warring States. The EAC-led Nairobi Process is a regional peace initiative aimed at resolving the conflict in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). He also noted that an earlier ceasefire negotiated was dishonoured, slowing down peace and diplomatic negotiations agreed in the peace process. US Embassy warns its citizens of high crime rates in Nairobi estates

The US Embassy has warned its citizens of increased crime rates in Nairobi estates. In an advisory issued on Friday, the Embassy has warned its citizens residing in Nairobi to take caution even as they go about their business. "There are reports of increased criminal activity in residential areas of Nairobi," the Embassy said. "Incidents include crimes of opportunity such as purse and phone snatching," the advisory reads. The Embassy, however, noted the Kenya government is taking measures to deploy more police in high-crime areas. As a result, the Embassy has advised its citizens to avoid displaying any signs of wealth when they are moving around. Jesse beat 300 contestants from 50 countries to be named joint winner of the 'Save The Night' competition run by spirit company Jagermeister. Kenya's shilling has continued to soar against the dollar trading at Sh139 on Tuesday, showing one of its strongest recovers in months. The official Central Bank figures quoted the shilling trading at Sh139.4919 again greenback on Tuesday morning, up from Sh140.4357 on Monday. At one point on February 15, the shilling was up almost 8 per cent, bidding as strong as 139.00 to the U.S. dollar, CBK data showed then. Rwanda's President Paul Kagame has agreed to meet with his Democratic Republic of the Congo counterpart Felix Tshisekedi to discuss the ongoing crisis in eastern Congo, the Angolan government has said. The agreement followed a meeting on Monday in Angola's capital Luanda between Mr Kagame and Angolan President João Lourenço, the African Union's (AU) mediator, in the DR Congo crisis. "It was decided that President Kagame would agree to meet President Tshisekedi on a date to be indicated by the mediator," Angola's Foreign Minister Tete Antonio told the press after the meeting. President William Ruto has announced the appointment of 16 women as ambassadors to various countries across the world. Speaking on Friday, Ruto said the appointments are in honour of the contribution of women in the leadership of the country. Of the 16 appointments, 10 will serve as ambassadors while the remaining six will be deputy ambassadors. "This morning I have appointed 10 more women as ambassadors in different parts of the world and another six deputy ambassadors in recognition of the contribution of women in the leadership of women," Ruto said.
