Raila now Covid-19 free.

ODM party leader Raila Odinga has tested negative for Covid-19. The party confirmed via Twitter on Wednesday that Raila is out of danger of the virus and is focused on pending issues. He tested positive for the virus on 11 March 31, 2021, when he checked into Nairobi Hospital for a series of test after complaining of fatigue when returning from a five-day tour from the coast. Raila met with party officials on Wednesday to discuss recent developments in the country including the ongoing countrywide vaccination and the state of the country’s economy. Kericho Deputy Governor dies in Hospital.

Kericho Deputy Governor Susan Kikwai has died at the Siloam Hospital in Kericho where she had been receiving treatment.  Kikwai is reported to have passed on Saturday, March 20 after battling Covid-19 for two weeks. "She was discharged on Thursday but on Friday night, her condition deteriorated and she was rushed back to the hospital. She succumbed on Saturday at around 9:30 a.m," a family member stated. The Deputy Governor was serving the second and final term having been first elected in the year 2013 together with Governor Paul Kiprono Chepkwony. Politicians defy Covid-19 directives.

A day after the president, banned large public gatherings,politicians continue  to defy the directive. Though the president directed that funerals be attended by close family members and capped the number of attendees at 100, political leaders led hundreds of residents to the home of Mzee Peter Watangwa, the uncle to former UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa Kituyi in Bungoma for his funeral where social distance was violated. Similar scenarios played out in Kericho county as over 500 KNUT members gathered to elect their representative.
