Curfew to run until May 29, for the infected zone.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has said the ongoing curfew will run until May 29, 2021. This is both for the disease infected zone and the rest of the country. The infected zones curfew run from 8pm to 4am while the rest of the country from 10pm to 4am. The president in his directives last month did not give a timeline for the curfews only noting that the restrictions will stay in place "until otherwise notified."  In the Gazette Notice dated April 12, Matiang'i said the curfew will be in place for 60 days effective March 29, 2021. The initial Legal Notice issued on March 29 had indicated that the 8pm to 4am curfew would run across the country and would be in place for 30 days. Families are struggling to find beds in hospital for severely ill Covid-19 patients, and where a bed is found, they have to part with hundreds of thousands of shillings in deposit before admission. For six hours, Winnie Oketch’s family struggled to get a bed in hospitals in Nairobi. Phone calls were made from hospital to hospital, to no avail. At exactly 11:55am on Wednesday, March 31, they made the first call to Kenyatta National Hospital requesting an intensive care unit (ICU) bed, since the 48-year-old had started developing breathing difficulties. Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange has succumbed to Covid-19 related complications. He passed in Nairobi Hospital where he was receiving treatment on Wednesday early morning. Koinange was among the forefront campaign for the building bridges initiative (BBI) in Kiambu County. President Uhuru Kenyatta mourned him as a keen and steadfast supporter of the country’s peace agenda through the House committee he chaired. Former NTV anchor Winnie Mukami dies of Covid -19 complications.

Former NTV news anchor Winnie Mukami is dead. The former news anchor also served as a board member at Kenya pipeline. Mukami died as a result of Covid-19 complications on Thursday. In 2010 Mukami left NTV after seven years at Aga khan-owned media house. Mukami became known in 2003 anchored NTV news during its launch. Her demise comes two days after Royal Media Services journalist Robin Njogu also succumbed to the disease

Tanzania president John Pombe Magufuli is dead. This message was revealed by Tanzania Vice president,Samia Suluhu Hassan that magufuli died of heart complications. Samia said that magufuli was hospitalized on March 6 at the Jakaya Kikwete cardiac institute and died in Mzena State Hospital in Dar es Salaam. He previously served at Capital FM and Nation Media Group. A trained fact checker, Robin was the go-to person and led the flock when it came to debunking fake news. He mastered the art of news and current affairs. He was also part of a 15-member Task Force on the Improvement of Government Information and Public Communications appointed by ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru in January 2019.
