Monica highlighted that she was impressed by the creative healthcare delivery model of mobile clinics and medical safaris and wished to replicate the same in Malawi. Government extends nationwide curfew by another 30 days

The government has extended the existing Covid-19 containment measures for another period of 30 days. Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Monday said the country is yet to hit the World Health Organisation recommended positivity rate of five per cent for a consistent period of 14 days. "The containment measures including the curfew hours of 10 pm to 4 am will remain there and this is for two reasons... number one is that we are still as far as the positivity rate is concerned we are still above the WHO recommended figures in terms of two weeks period when you have got less than 5 per cent of positivity rate at a high testing level," Kagwe said. Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame arrived in Mozambique Friday for a two-day state. The visit comes two-and-a-half months after Rwanda’s deployment of a 1000- strong contingent, made up of the army and the police, that recently launched offensive attacks against insurgents in Cabo Delgado province in the north east of Mozambique. In July, Rwanda, under a bilateral arrangement, was the first to send troops to Mozambique. Botswana followed with a contingent of 296 and South Africa deployed 1,500 soldiers. Kenya will next year start manufacturing Covid-19 vaccines locally in collaboration with unnamed pharmaceutical firms in a move aimed at easing supply hitches that have derailed mass inoculation. Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe revealed in an internal vaccination blue print that the country has started the process of building a filling plant for the Covid-19 vaccines. A full-fledged vaccine manufacturing plant will be built by 2024, said Mr Kagwe.
