Court revises sentence reduces 8 years for man convicted of defiling girlfriend

At 15 years old, MC, a Form One student in Nandi County, had 'consensual' sex with her 20-year-old boyfriend, Delmas Kipruto Bett. In Kenya, it is contrary to the law for an adult to engage in sexual intercourse with a minor- anyone below 18 years with their consent. In the matter, MC and Bett met on August 17, 2020, at around 4 pm and hung out until 8 pm before going to the latter's house. He was however dissatisfied and moved to the High Court at Kapsabet, arguing that on the date of the offence, MC presented herself and behaved like an adult. Suspect in murder of Ida Odinga’s bodyguard to be arraigned in court

The suspect in the murder of Ida Odinga's bodyguard will be arraigned in a Kisumu court on Monday. Collins Oulo Okundi was arrested in Eldoret on Sunday after he surrendered to the police. The suspect was ferried from Eldoret on Monday morning and is currently at the Kisumu High Court cell. A pistol believed to be that of the slain officer was recovered during the arrest. Okundi, a manager at a popular club, is currently being held at Kisumu Central Police station. According to sources, the investigation team will be seeking custodial orders to detain the suspect for more days as they continue with the probe. Kisumu county police commander Alphonse Kimanthi had on Sunday confirmed that the suspect will be arraigned on Monday.

Widow of Kiiru Boys principal found guilty of murder

A court has found Jane Muthoni, the woman accused of killing Kiiru Boys High School Principal Solomon Mwangi Mbuthi, guilty of murder. Justice Joel Ngugi also convicted  Muthoni's co-accused Isaac Isaac Ng'ang'a alias Gikuyu. The convicts will be sentenced on May 18.
