Senator Mandago, Co-Accused Arraigned in Court Over Finland, Canada Scholarship Scandal

Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago was arraigned on Thursday at the Nakuru Chief Magistrate Court in connection with the Uasin Gishu scholarship scandal that has plagued the county in recent weeks. Senator Mandago was arraigned alongside two other defendants, Joshua Lelei and Mishack Rono, because the third defendant, Joseph Maritim, is currently out of the country. The three are accused of conspiring to steal Ksh.1.1 billion from a Kenya Commercial Bank account in Eldoret registered under the Uasin Gishu Education Trust Fund, which was intended for overseas university fees for scholarship students. Myanmar sentences ex-leader to jail for corruption

A court in military-ruled Myanmar has found former leader Aung Sun Suu Kyi guilty of corruption, the latest verdict in a series of secret trials. Ms Suu Kyi has been under house arrest since February 2021 when a military coup ousted her elected government. The 76-year-old Nobel laureate has been charged with a raft of criminal offences including voter fraud. She denies all of the accusations and rights groups have condemned the court trials as a sham. The closed-door hearings in the capital Nay Pyi Taw have been shut to the public and media, and Ms Suu Kyi's lawyers forbidden from speaking to journalists. Traffic Police caught taking bribes attack EACC officers

EACC detectives on a covert operation along the Kisumu - Bondo road on Friday had hard time trying to arrest four traffic police officers at Kombewa. There was drama during the sting operation that saw a traffic police officer cock his gun and another physically assault EACC detectives to avoid being arrested. Determined to complete their mission, officers however managed to nab one traffic cop, a sergeant. According to a report from the anti-graft agency, the policewoman was held in a suspected case of receiving a bribe.
