Heavy Police Presence At Uhuru Kenyatta’s Ichaweri Home

Days after Uhuru Kenyatta's family-owned property was raided by goons, the government, not wanting to witness the Monday scenes again, has boosted security at his rural home in Ichaweri, Gatundu South Constituency. According to Gatundu South sub-county police commander Jonathan Koech, a total of 30 officers have been deployed to keep watch and ward off any criminal elements. The same security measures were witnessed at the rural home of Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua. IEBC Clears Irungu Kang’ata To Vie For Murang’a Governor Seat

Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata has been cleared by the IEBC to run for the Murang'a Governor seat in the upcoming August General Election. Kang'ata was cleared along with his running mate Winnie Mwangi, who had earlier been barred from vying after IEBC determined that she had failed to resign within the legal deadlines. According to reports, Ms Mwangi did not resign by February 9 in violation of the Elections Act, which requires public officers seeking elective seats to resign six months before an election. She was a lecturer at the University of Nairobi for more than 25 years before being chosen as Kang'ata's running mate. Former Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has been appointed the Executive Director of Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja campaign secretariat. In a statement on Wednesday, secretariat Communications Director, Dennis Onyango, said Tuju assumes the role with immediate effect. “As Executive Director, Hon. Tuju will coordinate all member parties of Azimio and will lead the strategic and programme teams that will work to ensure Azimio's victory in the August elections,” said Onyango. Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga has visited Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege at the Nairobi Hospital. The ODM party leader jetted back into the city on the evening of February 22, after an extensive tour of the Coastal region where he popularized his 2022 presidential bid.
