Murder Charge Against Aisha Jumwa Formally Withdrawn

The murder charge against Public Service and Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has been formally withdrawn.  The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) made an application at Mombasa High Court to have the murder charge withdrawn, and Jumwa to be a state witness.  In a letter by the ODPP, court was told that though the threshold test was met at the point of making the decision to charge, the evidentiary test on relation to the doctrine of common intention has not been met. "Therefore the charges against the second accused can therefore not be sustained in the circumstances," court was told. Aisha Jumwa: I Will Initiate Plan To Increase Public Servants Salaries Within 100 Days

Public Service and Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has announced that a public servants will receive a salary increment in the next 100 days. Speaking after touring the Nairobi Huduma Centre on Monday, Jumwa noted that the government has planned to undertake a number of reforms to improve service delivery across the country. "The public service is demoralized in matters salary and other benefits and I think in my 100 days in office I will initiate the plan to increase salaries of the public servants," said Jumwa. DPP Withdraws Ksh.19M Graft Charges Against CS Nominee Aisha Jumwa

The Director General of Public Prosecutions has issued a request to withdraw the corruption case against Aisha Jumwa who was recently appointed Public Service and Gender Cabinet Secretary. Jumwa, who was a Member of Parliament for Malindi was facing charges of illegally obtaining Ksh.19 million. Through the head of prosecution Alex Akula, the DPP's office informed Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku that it has received orders to withdraw the case against Jumwa who is the first defendant in the case. However, the case of the 8 others the CS nominee was charged with will continue.
