One killed, dozens injured as school buses collide along Baricho road in Kirinyaga

One person died and several pupils were injured after two school buses they were travelling in were involved in an accident along the Kagio-Baricho road in Kirinyaga. Police said the incident happened Wednesday, April 5, at about 6 am and involved a Trinity Academy Kagio and Kutus Municipality buses which collided head-on. The buses' windows were shattered and the front parts were damaged following the impact. The area residents rushed to the scene and could be seen using welding machines to cut the buses' parts to rescue the trapped victims. The injured learners were rushed to a nearby hospital while the deceased, a school manager, was taken to the morgue. Police open probe after three killed, vehicle burnt in Kilifi.

Three men were on Wednesday killed and a vehicle they were using set ablaze in Junju B village, Kilifi County. Kilifi South sub-county police commander Mohamed Wako said two of the victims were Kenyans of Indian origin.  He said the victims had deep cuts on their heads and other visible injuries on other parts of their body. “We are yet to establish the reason behind the killings, we are going back to the scene to find more information on the motive of the killings,” Mr Wako said. Army chopper crashes in Kajiado, bursts into flames

A chopper has crashed in the Oltinga area of Kajiado West sub-county with an unconfirmed number of passengers. Kajiado County Police Commander Muthuri Mwongera said the accident happened about 8 am and details of the chopper and the number of passengers remains unknown. “I have dispatched Kajiado West OCPD Vincent Kitili, to the scene in Oltinga to get us details,” Mwongera said. The police commander confirmed that it is an Army chopper that crashed 60 km south of Oloopolos. Such choppers, they say, can carry a maximum of 26 passengers.
