Miguna Only Needs To Fill A One-Page Document

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has clarified details on the requirements exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna needs to meet to return to the country. According to Matiang'i, citing the rule of law, Miguna will be required to fill out a one-page document for citizenship re-registration, which will allow him to return to the country. "You have to fill a piece of paper so that you regain your Kenyan passport or citizenship. The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party’s National Elections Board (NEB) has postponed the party primaries in Bumula, Mt. Elgon, Turkana Central, Kakamega and Turkana East constituencies. Speaking while issuing a media update on the nomination exercise on Thursday, NEB Chairman Anthony Mwaura stated that the Bumula, Turkana Central, and Turkana East elections will be held on Tuesday, April 19. Direct ODM Ticket For James Orengo In Siaya Governor Race

Siaya Senator James Orengo has been given a direct ticket in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for his gubernatorial race in the August General Election. Orengo will be running against former Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo of the United Democratic Movement (UDM) in the race to succeed Cornel Rasanga.  This comes ahead of ODM's primaries in Siaya County which are slated for Wednesday, April 13, for the parliamentary seats, MCAs and the woman representative. East African Legislative Assembly MP Oburu Oginga, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi and Rarieda MP Otiende Amolo have also bagged direct nominations for their respective bids. Wandayi and Amolo are seeking to defend their current seats.

Key highlights of 2022/23 Budget

The budget is Sh3.31 trillion. This is 4.8 per cent more compared to the Sh2.9 trillion budget for the 2020/21 fiscal year. The Budget comes two months earlier than the usual June date. This is to allow sufficient preparation for the August 9 general elections. The budget will be the last under President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime. It will cover expenditure for the period between July 1, 2022, to June 31, 2023. The national government will take the biggest chunk of the monies- Sh2.07 trillion. The majority of national government expenditure will go to the Executive – Sh2.01 trillion. Parliament will take Sh38.4 billion. Judiciary will get Sh18.8 billion.
