Toyota Prado Intercepted Ferrying 379 Kilos Of Bhang Worth Ksh.11M

Police in Kisii are in custody of an illegal consignment of bhang valued at over Ksh.11 million after intercepting its transportation on Sunday. According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the consignment was being ferried to Kilgoris, Narok County in a white Toyota Prado when officers on patrol noticed that the car was loaded with suspicious goods. "The officers signaled the driver of the vehicle to stop but he defied the orders and sped off at breakneck speed and upon reaching Magena area, he made a quick U-turn back towards Kanyenye," read part of a statement from DCI. A suspect fell off and died as he tried to escape from an irate mob after a failed robbery in Embakasi, Nairobi. Police and witnesses said the suspect had climbed to the rooftop of a four-storey residential apartment and tried to steal Wi-Fi routers in Mradi area. Some tenants at the building said they heard a commotion on the rooftop and raised alarm. The national passport delivery will continue into the third week, with 11,278 passports ready for collection from Monday, October 9, to Friday, October 13, according to the Interior Ministry. The total number of passports available in Nairobi next week is 5616, 1505 in Mombasa, and 1400 in Kisumu. Detectives have seized Ksh.9 million worth of methamphetamine drug at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The drugs, weighing more than one kilogram, were concealed inside bicycle saddles. Over 60 Students From Eregi Girls’ School Hospitalised Over Unknown Illness

More than 60 students from Eregi Girls High School in Kakamega County have been admitted to various hospitals following an outbreak of an unknown illness. 30 students were admitted to the Kakamega Level Five Hospital, 20 to Shibwe Hospital and 10 to Iguhu Hospital.  The students have shown similar symptoms, where they are having trouble walking.  Reports indicate that more students are being rushed to various health facilities in the county.  Sources indicated that initial laboratory tests had revealed that the students had elevated electrolytes, an indication that their bodies had lost fluids. Medical personnel from KEMRI are expected to visit the School on Tuesday to assess the situation.

Police Officer Dies By Suspected Suicide In Kirinyaga

A police officer attached to the Kerugoya Police station in Kirinyaga County was on Wednesday found hanging from the roof of his rented house in Kerugoya town. His caretaker, Ann Wanjiru, said that she had gone to check up on him because he had been missing since Monday. Wanjiru said that after efforts to try and open the door turned futile, she decided to use an object to peep through the window, where she discovered a body hanging from the roof.
