President Uhuru Kenyatta has condemned the killing of Kenyan environmentalist Joanna Stuchburry and ordered security agencies to track down the perpetrators of the heinous act. Wanted policewoman Caroline Kangogo has shot herself dead at her parents home in Elgeyo Marakwet County, police said. Police said they narrowed down on her on Thursday and have been there all night. "She shot herself in their bathroom using a pistol she had," police told the Star on Friday. The incident happened at about 7.30 am Friday at Nyawa village, Tambach division in Keiyo. Her parents called police who found the body in a pool of blood in the bathroom. Three bodies recovered after man confesses to killing 12

A man arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of two minor boys has claimed he killed 12 in what police suspect are witchcraft rituals. Two bodies were recovered on Tuesday in a thicket in the Kabete area near Kabete Approved School in Nairobi.  One was found Wednesday afternoon in the Kabete area from a river bank. Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Nelson Havi had a reprieve on Tuesday evening after obtaining police bail securing his release hours after arrest. The lawyer had earlier been arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives over claims that he assaulted suspended LSK chief executive officer Mercy Wambua. According to reports, the vocal lawyer was nabbed at his office in Nairobi and taken to the DCI offices for interrogation. The society's vice-president Carolyne Kamende confirmed the arrest, according to a report by Shahidi News. "He was at his office when he was arrested," Kamende said. Following the pre-charge bail, Havi will be presented to court on Wednesday, July 14.

The proportion of Kenyan adults fully vaccinated against Covid-19 with the AstraZeneca vaccine now stands at just two per cent. Data by the Health Ministry shows that as at Tuesday, 521,720 had received their second dose since the exercise commenced. A total of 1,028,669 have been administered with the first dose while the total number of vaccines administered across the country to date stands at 1,550,389. “The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 50.7 per cent with the majority being male at 55 per cent while females are at 45 per cent,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said. Three men were on Wednesday killed and a vehicle they were using set ablaze in Junju B village, Kilifi County. Kilifi South sub-county police commander Mohamed Wako said two of the victims were Kenyans of Indian origin.  He said the victims had deep cuts on their heads and other visible injuries on other parts of their body. “We are yet to establish the reason behind the killings, we are going back to the scene to find more information on the motive of the killings,” Mr Wako said.
