How Sh180m looted Youth Fund cash was shared

Details have emerged showing how the Sh180 million stolen from the Youth Enterprise Development Fund was shared out. An anti-corruption court on Thursday fined businessman Mukuria Ngamau Sh700 million for defrauding the Fund of the money. Chief magistrate Douglas Ogoti held that the director of Quorandum Limited irregularly acquired the money. Ngamau will spend 27 years in jail if he defaults in paying the fine, having been found guilty of five counts of looting seven years ago. Four family members were on Friday night burnt to death after their house was razed by a fire at Taru in Kinango subcounty. The fire claimed the lives of a mother and her three children. Kwale police confirmed the incident. Sigalame High School in Funyula, Busia County, has been closed indefinitely after a fire razed one of the dormitories on Monday night. This becomes the fourth fire incident in the school since it was reopened this term. Samia sub-county Director of Education Dominic Opee said the students will remain home until investigations into the cause of the fire are concluded. Three suspects were on Monday night arrested after they were found selling narcotic drugs including heroin in Mwingi town. John Musya, Paul Mumo and Julius Musya aged between 23-24 were arrested as they hawked heroin concealed in seven sachets. DCI boss George Kinoti said the suspects sell the illegal drugs to twilight girls, who moonlight in the busy town for bread and butter.
