Nairobi county workers go on Strike.

Normal county operations in the capital have been disrupted after Nairobi county government workers downed their tools. The workers have accused both NMS and City Hall of failing to address their grievances. The Kenya County Government Workers Union (KCGWU) Nairobi branch decried that at least 11,000 county workers have been without medical cover since July Other issues raised by the union is the failure to promote county staff, perennial delay in paying staff salaries, non-remittance of statutory deductions and non-payment of overtime and other allowances. The workers have also decried that the county has failed to provide non-payment of uniform allowances and other dues for retiring employees.

Three people have been killed when suspected bandits raided a home at Ndindika Village, Ngarua division in Laikipia County. One person was injured in an attempted cattle rustling near Laikipia Nature Conservancy. The bandits had driven hundreds animals from different homesteads but were intercepted by security. After a few hours, the bandits returned to the village in bid to revenge over the recovery of the animals. National Police Service spokesman Bruno Shiosi said the incident occurred on Sunday at 4pm. Father and son among three killed in gruesome Motorbike Accident in Kombani

A father and son duo were among three killed in a road crash involving two motorbikes that collided head on in the Kombani area on the Mombasa-Lunga Lunga road.  According to reports, the two bikes collided and burst into flames with the father and son duo sustaining serious burns in the wee hours of Thursday.  Reports say the man was on the motorbike with his son and his wife during the accident that also killed a businessman who was on the second bike.  According to police officers, the woman who lost her husband and her son in the accident and the rider of the second bike are receiving medical care at the Mswambweni County Referral Hospital.  The bodies of the deceased were removed to the Mswambweni County Referral Hospital mortuary.

Primary school teacher who defiled class six pupil sentenced to serve 20 years in jail

A 45-year-old primary school teacher who defiled a 13-year-old pupil in 2016 was on Wednesday sentenced to serve 20 years in jail. Fredrick Mwangi was sentenced by Milimani senior principal magistrate David Ndungi after the court found him guilty of the offence. The magistrate said the prosecution had proved its case against him. While passing the sentencing, the magistrate jailed the teacher with the sentence saying it is the minimum sentence for such an offence as provided by the law. "The accused who is a teacher defiled a child. Lawyer Evans Monari, who represented former Commissioner of Police Hussein Aliat the International Criminal Court, is dead.  Monari died at the Nairobi Hospital where he was receiving treatment, his family spokesman Ken Monari said Tuesday.  "It is with profound sadness that I would like to inform on behalf of the Ogeto family that Evans has gone to be with the Lord. May the almighty God rest his soul in peace. Thank you for your continued support," said Ken. He was admitted to the hospital's intensive care unit five weeks ago because of multiple organ complications, the spokesman said. Government extends nationwide curfew by another 30 days

The government has extended the existing Covid-19 containment measures for another period of 30 days. Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Monday said the country is yet to hit the World Health Organisation recommended positivity rate of five per cent for a consistent period of 14 days. "The containment measures including the curfew hours of 10 pm to 4 am will remain there and this is for two reasons... number one is that we are still as far as the positivity rate is concerned we are still above the WHO recommended figures in terms of two weeks period when you have got less than 5 per cent of positivity rate at a high testing level," Kagwe said.
