Police Officer Who Shot Girlfriend Six Times in 2020 Found Dead

Police Constable David Nyamweya made headlines after shooting his lover Everlyn Njoki six times after a brawl; luckily, she survived the ordeal. A report by Daily Nation indicated the police officer's body had been found floating on River Kathita in Meru and investigations to determine whether it was suicide or murder had already started. Security heightened in Nairobi ahead of DP Ruto tour

Security has been beefed up in Nairobi ahead of Deputy president William Ruto’s tour. Ruto is expected to tour Roysambu area on Friday. He will be at Marurui via Kiambu Road at 9am. From there he is expected in Kahawa West Roundabout at about 10am and Soko ya Mawe, Githurai 44 at 11am. Ruto will visit Zimmerman, Kamiti Road at noon before going to TRM, Roysambu Roundabout, Santon, Mwiki, Njiru shopping centre and Njiru/Ruai junction. Police has said there will be traffic jams on the roads occasioned by the rallies. Motorists have been urged to avoid the routes for the better part of the morning to avoid the expected traffic jam. Nairobi and Rift Valley regions Wednesday, January 12 got new Regional Commissioners (RC) in changes announced by the Office of the President. Also affected were Western, Eastern, Central and North Eastern. The changes were announced by Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho who said they be effected immediately. The new Nairobi RC will be William Kangethe Thuku who was two weeks ago named the Chief Administrative Secretary for Correctional Services. The new Rift Valley RC will be Makueni County Commissioner Mohamed Maalim. This follows the resignation of George Natembeya from Rift Valley as the RC to seek to be elected as Trans Nzoia County governor. About 150 people were trapped on the roof of Hong Kong's World Trade Centre on Wednesday after a fire broke out in the building located in the bustling commercial and shopping district of Causeway Bay, police said. Firefighters were battling the blaze with two water jets, the government said, employing ladders and breathing apparatus in the effort to rescue those trapped. Broadcaster RTHK quoted police as saying about 100 people moved from a restaurant to the 39th floor when the fire broke out and smoke filled the dining area. Seven women and a man were among the eight people taken to hospital, one of them semi-conscious, police said. Outside the building, the scene was calm after firefighters cordoned off the area.

One police officer was shot dead on Sunday when bandits attacked Chepkesin, Baringo North sub-county. Area police boss Fred Odinga said the officer, David Omondi, was in the company of his colleagues during a routine security patrol when the attack happened. “There was fierce exchange of fire before we unfortunately we lost our officer in the process,” Odinga said. He said the officers were helping to repulse armed bandits who were  illegally grazing and watering their animals in the area. Five arrested over defrauding Korean of Sh2.9m in fake gold scam.

Five suspects were Tuesday arrested in a police operation after defrauding a Korean national Sh2.9 million, on the pretext that they would sell him gold. The five were arrested following a complaint by one Song Sung, who had initially been shown some well parked bars that he was made to believe were made of gold. The victim had earlier been directed to a company known as Ekweme enterprises in Karen suburbs, where he was shown the supposed gold. He told police he was led to the establishment by proxies believed to have been working in cahoots with the fraudsters, who immediately went into hiding after receiving the money. Mama Ngina Girls Secondary school closed after attempted arson

Mama Ngina Girls' Secondary School has been closed down indefinitely after an attempted arson by the students at around 5am of Wednesday morning. Mombasa County Director of Education Peter Magiri confirmed that fire broke out in one of the ablution blocks within the school compound when the girls were preparing for the morning preps. He said all the girls have been sent home as they launch further investigation into the incident. Mama Ngina is the only girls' national secondary school in Mombasa County. Mutyambai son to face charges over fatal accident

A son to Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai is likely to be charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving following an accident that occurred Thursday in Nairobi. David Mwendwa Mutyambai was driving the four wheel drive car that was involved in the accident. Mwendwa is also likely to be charged with causing serious injuries to a pedestrian following the accident. He is out on Sh20,000 cash bail as police investigate the incident along Southern Bypass in Nairobi. The file on the accident is likely to be sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution with the recommendations.
