KAA begins Sh240 million expansion of Kisumu International Airport

The Kenya Airports Authority has started the expansion and rehabilitation of Kisumu International airport ahead of the Africities summit. The Sh240 million upgrade is expected to be completed within 90 days. KAA managing director Alex Gitari said they have handed the works to China Jiangxi International Economic and Technical Cooperation. We have told the contractor to stick within the time frame to ensure the works are completed on time," he said. The director spoke during a ceremony to commence the works on Friday. Police hunting for gunman captured on camera robbing Eastleigh resident

Police are looking for a gunman who was captured on a CCTV camera robbing a man while brandishing his gun in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area. The man was captured in a video that has gone viral after the incident that happened on Eighth Street. Police say the man was caught brandishing a pistol outside Amore restaurant last Thursday before making away with the victim’s valuables. Detectives have already received possible clues on the person and are pursuing leads on his whereabouts and motive. Two Marsabit businessmen abducted in Nairobi

Police are investigating claims that two Marsabit based businessmen who are missing were abducted in Nairobi. Kunni Hele Halanka and Roba Abduba Sereka are said to have been abducted by armed men in separate places in Nairobi. Halanka went missing on February 7, 2022, and his family say they have been searching for him in vain, while Roba went missing on February 2, 2022. Halanka, 70, was riding in a taxi along Likoni Road when the car was intercepted before he was picked up by men who claimed to be police officers. President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho are today expected to officially commission a multi-million cancer treatment center at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital (CGTRH). The new facility will be the second cancer center in Kenya after the one at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital in Nairobi.  It has been fitted with state-of-the-art radiotherapy machines and can treat up to 120 patients per week when it becomes fully operational. This is after the two- Edward and Paul Ndichu- failed to show up at the Kibera Law Court to take a plea in the proposed charges. AG Kihara Opposes Bid Set To Dismiss Law Criminalizing The Spread Of HIV

A petition seeking to decriminalize deliberate transmission of HIV or any other Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STI) diseases should be dismissed by the high court says Attorney General Paul Kihara. The law says that any person who deliberately or intentionally infects another with HIV or any other life threatening STIs is guilty of an offence, whether or not he or she is married to that other person and shall be liable upon conviction to imprisonment for a term of not less than 15 years but may be enhanced for life. Two killed in separate fire incidents in Nairobi

Two people were killed in two separate fire incidents in Nairobi at the weekend. One died in a fire that was reported in Riruta area while the second one died in Embakasi’s Juakali area. Police said up to 50 structures were destroyed in both incidents leaving tens of people homeless. Ten other people sustained slight injuries in the Sunday incidents. Investigations to establish the cause of the fire are ongoing. The bodies of the men were taken to the mortuary. Witnesses said they were discovered after the fire had been contained.
