MP Sankok’s Son Reportedly Refused To Return To School Before Gun Incident

New developments have emerged in the ongoing investigations into the death of Nominated MP David Sankok's son after Kericho High School's principal revealed that he had refused to return to school before the incident. The MP's son, 15, reportedly shot himself using his father's pistol on Monday afternoon after taking it from a safe in his father's bathroom. He was a Form Four student.  He was expected to report to school last week but was not keen on going which is said to have sparked an argument with his father. Motorists have been warned of traffic disruptions on some Nairobi roads on Friday when the funeral service of the late former President Mwai Kibaki will be held at the Nyayo Stadium. Police spokesperson Bruno Shioso in a statement on Thursday advised motorists to avoid Aerodrome Road and a section of Uhuru Highway between Nyayo House and Lusaka roundabouts from 7.00am. “A procession to the stadium led by the Kenya Defence Forces will affect the flow of traffic on some parts of the procession route, namely Procession Way, Kenyatta Avenue, Uhuru Highway, Aerodrome Road as they proceed to the stadium,” stated Shioso. Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has declared Tuesday as a public holiday to celebrate Idd-ul-Fitr. In a gazette notice on Tuesday, Matiang'i declared May 3rd a public holiday in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act. The festival of Idd-ul-Fitr, the Festival of Fast-breaking, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.  Muslims gather in mosques or open spaces and offer two units of prayer – called "Rakat". The prayers are followed by a sermon, in which the imam asks for forgiveness, mercy, and peace for every being across the world.

Education CS Magoha To Release 2021 KCSE Exam Results

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2021 examination results are set to be released by Education CS Prof. George Magoha. The results will be released at the KNEC headquarters on Dennis Pritt Road, Kilimani, Nairobi.  A total of 831,015 candidates sat the exam. The exams were done in 10,413 centres. The papers were disseminated from 483 distribution centers, with Magoha supervising the examination distribution and monitoring exercise. Students had until April 1 to submit their choice of courses to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service.

MOH Reports over 900,000 Malaria vaccine Administered in Kenya

Since Kenya became the first country to pioneer a Malaria vaccine in 2019, over 750,000 doses have been given to children in lake-endemic counties. At least 275,000 children have received at least one of the four scheduled doses, according to Kenya's health ministry, while 45,000 have received the full dose. The GSK vaccine is part of Kenya's fight against the disease, which kills between 1 million and 1.3 million people worldwide each year. Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has said 2,000 police officers are mentally unfit to serve in the police service. Speaking when he met bishops and senior clergy of the Anglican Church in Nairobi on Tuesday, Mutyambai said that the findings were established after medical examinations were conducted on police officers. “We have subjected all the officers to medical examination, and to our surprise, we got a big number. We isolated almost 2,000 police officers who are unfit to do their law enforcement work,” said Mutyambai. Three Arrested Over Viral Assault Of Old Lady and Young Man

Three people have been arrested following an incident where a woman and a young man believed to be her son were assaulted in Ringa, Rachuonyo East, Homa Bay County under unknown circumstances. In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) said the three; Dedan Kimathi Agan, Enos Odhiambo Osoo and Lukio Okwiri are in police custody. Police added that the three suspects are being processed and will be charged with assault and causing bodily harm. The video clip circulating on social media prompted Kenyans to call on the authorities to bring the perpetrators to book. Tragedy as two die after being struck by lightning in Webuye

Residents of Malaha village in Bungoma County are reeling in shock after one family lost two of their kins in a lightning tragedy on Sunday evening. The duo Francisca Wabomba, 21, and Valary Naliaka, 13, were struck by lightning while heading home from a posho mill. While confirming the incident, area Assistant chief Bramwel Kachelo regretted the demise of the two and asked parents not to allow their children out when it is raining. Nairobi Man Charged With Stealing Cooking Oil, Sugar, Rice From A Supermarket

A man was charged on Wednesday with stealing cooking oil from Naivas Supermarket. Alvin Linus Chivondo was charged with stealing 2 litres of cooking oil at the Naivas Supermarket along Moi Avenue.  According to the prosecution, the 21-year-old man also stole 5 kgs of rice , honey, tea leaves and sugar, all totaling Ksh. 3,165.  He pleaded guilty before the court.  The court heard that he posed as a customer, picking the items from the shelves before packing them into a non-woven carrier bag.  He was intercepted while attempting to exit the supermarket without paying.

Collins Kibet Toroitich  wants court to order the administrator of his grandfather's vast estate to pay the money as they await the outcome of an inheritance case.
