Sudanese Fugitive Captured At UoN Staff Quarters

Detectives in Nairobi have flushed a Sudanese man said to be an “international fugitive” out of his hideout at the University of Nairobi’s staff quarters. Mohamed Nagi Mohamed Magzoub was flushed out of the city campus on Monday evening by Transnational and Organized Crimes detectives who were acting on a tip-off from the public. Detectives said they had established that Mr. Magzoub, who was in possession of a Sudanese passport, is facing organized charges in the country. “Arrangements to extradite the suspect to his home country, where he will face justice, are currently in top gear, as the Directorate looks for the next available flight to Khartoum to hand him over to Sudanese authorities,” read a report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Man Hawking Suspected Dog Meat In A Hot Pot Arrested In Nyandarua

Police in Nyandarua County have arrested a man hawking what is suspected to be fried dog meat in a hot pot. According to a police report, Ndirangu Wahome was arrested on Sunday selling the meat around Wanjohi town. “Upon searching his compound, the following were recovered; a slit separate dog head, a sufuria which he used to cook the meat, a blood stained knife and a blood stained panga and a wire which he used to trap the dog,” read part of the report. Wahome was also found to be in possession of about 10 grams of marijuana and another live dog which police suspect was next in line to be slaughtered. He is currently in police custody awaiting arraignment for charges related to selling of meat unfit for human consumption.

Leading cooking oil manufacturer Pwani Oils has temporarily shut down operations due to what it says is a shortage of raw materials as a result of challenges in accessing dollars to pay suppliers. According to the manufacturer of Fresh Fri, Salit and Fry Mate cooking oils, its bankers are processing merely half of the dollar requests it needs to pay suppliers of crude palm oil from Malaysia. “Getting sufficient amount of dollars required to support the factory in terms of getting sufficient raw materials is not happening,” Business Daily quoted Pwani Oil Commercial Director Rajul Malde as having said on Friday. “We are not even running the plant right now because of lack of raw materials [crude palm oil].” Pwani said the situation had further been worsened by a global stif...

Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu has suspended the trading license of Alchemist Bar over racial discrimination allegations against patrons and noise pollution. Motorists using the soon-to-be-launched Nairobi Expressway will not be allowed to pay via M-Pesa, the highway’s operators have announced. A 21-year-old student is being sought by police for allegedly killing his 18-year-old schoolmate in Belgut, Kericho county. The two, who are form three students at Keben high school, are said to have been in an altercation on Wednesday morning before the matter took a shocking turn.
